MADISON, Ill. (May 15, 2026) – Saint Louis University men’s basketball head coach Josh Schertz will serve as grand marshal as he exchanges the court for the track at the 10th annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 on June 7.
In his role as grand marshal, the award-winning coach will help kick off the anniversary special by participating in pre-race festivities ahead of the primetime NTT INDYCAR SERIES event on Sunday evening.
“It’s an honor to serve as the grand marshal for this race and represent Bommarito Automotive Group,” said Schertz. “The skill and competitive spirit on display is what makes sports so much fun to watch. Can’t wait to see everyone and celebrate a great night of racing.”
After assuming the role as head coach in 2024, Schertz immediately revitalized the Billikens program, leading Saint Louis to one of the top offensive seasons in school history. In 2026, Schertz guided SLU to the second round of the NCAA tournament, where the Billikens fell to Michigan, who went on to win the championship.
Prior to Saint Louis, Schertz built a nationally respected coaching résumé across more than 25 years in collegiate basketball. He began his coaching career in 1999 as a student assistant at Florida Atlantic University and has since compiled multiple conference championships, national coach of the year honors and record-setting seasons throughout his career.
Celebrating a decade of racing under the lights, the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 has become one of the premier sports and entertainment events in the St. Louis region, bringing together passionate fans, elite drivers and unforgettable energy.
The Bommarito Automotive Group 500 weekend will feature the stars of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES competing under the lights at the only primetime scheduled event on the 2026 calendar. The weekend event will also feature family activities, music acts and a tripleheader with INDY NXT by Firestone and USAC Silver Crown.
The 10th annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 will once again be broadcast live in primetime on FOX, with the green flag scheduled for 8 p.m. CT on Sunday, June 7. To purchase tickets for the June 6-7 event, visit wwtraceway.com or call the ticket office at (618) 215-8888 ext. 1.
