MADISON, Ill. (April 1, 2025) – The 1.25-mile oval and 1.6-mile road course at World Wide Technology Raceway will host their first events of the year in April 2025 including “Cycle the Raceway,” Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Eggstravaganza and an NTT INDYCAR SERIES test.
Events kick-off when Big Shark Bicycle Company comes out to the 1.6-mile road course on April 5 for their “Cycle the Raceway!” event from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. This event provides an opportunity for competitive cyclists to race on the track that NASCAR and INDYCAR legends have won on.
Pre-registration is open on BikeReg.com for $30 and closes on Saturday, April 4. Race day registration begins at 7 a.m. and will cost $40 at the gate. For more information on pricing, rules and schedules, please visit Big Shark’s website.
Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) Performance Driving Experience (PDE) hosts their first of their reoccurring events on Tuesday, April 8 from 2:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. This event serves as an opportunity for individuals to learn from experienced professionals the tips and tricks of driving on a race track. Individuals will learn about track etiquette, passing zones and driving lines from instructors.
There are three categories based off experience level set at novice, intermediate or advanced. Check in and tech begins at 1 p.m. and the track goes hot at 2:30 p.m. when the first group pushes the throttle. Broken into 20-minute sessions, four sessions run a price of $220 for SCCA members and $240 for non-members, and registration must be done in advance. For more information and to purchase a session visit SCCA’s website.
A Spring Eggstravaganza is scheduled for the weekend before Easter on April 11-13. Also hosted by the SCCA, this three-day event will include opportunities for all different levels of racers to learn and race on the road course. This weekend event is open to all drivers and any type of cars.
Friday, April 11 will be testing day and will also serve as a day for PDE drivers of the intermediate and advanced categories. Saturday and Sunday will host SCCA Race Experience sprint racing, where an SCCA license is not required, and Qualifying and Majors wheel to wheel racing, which requires a full SCCA competition license.
As the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 is only a few months out, Wednesday, April 16 will serve as an opportunity for the NTT INDYCAR SERIES to test their cars at the venue that will host the first short oval of the season. This test will fall almost exactly two months out from the Father’s Day event on June 15. Drivers will be able to test on the track that will be the second oval of the season, just three weeks after the Indianapolis 500.
Tickets for the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 are on sale now, so don’t miss your chance to see the open wheel action first hand. The Celebration of 66 Festival will be held alongside the INDYCAR event this year where 90’s rock legends Soul Asylum, Cracker and Sponge are set to headline.
Open wheel racing continues at WWT Raceway on April 26 when local universities get the chance to test their Formula SAE cars on the 1.6-mile road course. University students spend months designing and building a functional formula-style car, and they’ll have the opportunity to test their hard work at WWT Raceway ahead of their championship race in June.
