Race Where Legends Compete: JJK5K at World Wide Technology Raceway

MADISON, Ill. (Aug. 19, 2025) – Lace up your running shoes and get ready to hit the track before the NASCAR Cup Series. The third annual JJK5K Run and Walk is back at World Wide Technology Raceway on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1, at 9 a.m. to kick off the NASCAR Cup Series Playoff weekend, Sept. 5-6. 

The event honors hometown hero Jackie Joyner-Kersee, a six-time Olympic medalist and one of the most celebrated athletes in history. Proceeds from the JJK5K directly support the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation, which provides local youth with high-quality programs that inspire excellence on and off the field.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to race on the same 1.25-mile oval where the top drivers in NASCAR will race on just days later. Each participant will receive two free tickets to the Enjoy Illinois 300 NASCAR Cup Series Playoff race on Sept. 7. 

Adding to the excitement, the top three finishers in each 5K class will be honored with awards by gold medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee. 

Each participant will also receive a commemorative event medal, an exclusive race T-shirt, free parking and free downloadable event photos to remember the day.
