FREE FRIDAY PRESENTED BY DISCOVER DOWNSTATE ILLINOIS OPENS BOMMARITO AUTOMOTIVE GROUP 500 INDYCAR WEEKEND

  • Fans can participate in a guided track walk, Gateway Garage Preview and enjoy a free concert at the St. Louis Metro East-based motorsports venue beginning at 5 p.m. CT Friday.

MADISON, Ill. (June 11, 2025) – A guided track walk, Gateway Garage Preview, Vintage Indy Series autograph session and free concert will highlight Free Friday presented by Discover Downstate Illinois that officially kicks off the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline INDYCAR race weekend. 

The event is free and open to the public at the St. Louis Metro East-based motorsports facility beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. Visitors can park for free in the West Side parking lot and access the venue through Gate C.

Guests are encouraged to enter next to the Bommarito Experience track opening for a guided track walk of the 1.25-mile asphalt oval that will host the NTT INDYCAR SERIES, INDY NXT by Firestone and USAC Silver Crown on Saturday and Sunday. 

From 5 to 7 p.m., the Gateway Garage will be open for guests to get an up-close look at these sleek, 900-horsepower Indy cars as the garages will feature all 27 of the NTT INDYCAR SERIES entries for Sunday’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline at 7 p.m. (TV: FOX, Radio: INDYCAR Radio Network, SiriusXM). Alongside the Gateway Garage Preview, the Vintage Indy Series will host an autograph session at the garages.

The fun doesn’t end there as the entertainment continues into the night at the Campground Stage with a live performance by the popular local band HOOKiE beginning at 8 p.m. HOOKiE is a three-piece rock band from Alton, Ill., that fuses Led Zeppelin-style bluesy swagger with modern rock. The band will entertain campers and guests for the remainder of the night when festivities conclude at 11 p.m.
