2020 WWT Raceway Dragstrip Social Distancing Guidelines

Last Updated on 5/30/2020
In accordance with the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity guidelines, as it pertains to outdoor recreation, we will resume limited, private street legal car testing beginning on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.  With the precautions and operational restrictions outlined below, testing will be permitted as a recreational activity.  In addition to the general and social distancing standards set forth in the Stay at Home Order, our participants will need to abide by the controls listed in our operating plan. Please be advised before purchasing your entry:

  • We will operate at a minimum basic operations level of staff to limit customer and staff contact.
  • Any racer or crew with symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend.
  • Please bring your own supply of hand sanitizer and masks to have readily available in your pit area for yourself and your crew.

Because we are extremely limited on the total number of participants and crewmembers, we are offering limited testing at this time.  Much like making a reservation for a round of golf or to attend another event, once the allocated session is full no additional entries will be accepted.  All participants are required to purchase their entry via the Pit Pay App and complete the online release waiver.  For additional information, please contact Taryn via e-mail at:  Taryn.Bailey@wwtraceway.com or call (618) 215-8888 ext. 115.

  • Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 or a temperature of more than 100.4 degrees will not be permitted to attend the event.
  • Event will be contested as ‘participant only’ and isnot a spectator event. Spectators will not be permitted inside the facility.
  • We will only utilize odd-numbered staging lanes.  Even numbered lanes will be labeled as social distance zones.
  • Each participant will receive one racer registration, one vehicle tech card, and # of crew based on the type of event you purchased for. Participant entry will be sold as apackage only. Individual crew passes will not be offered at the gate.
  • All participant packages must be purchased in advance via Pit Pay App. All drivers must complete the online Pit Pay release waiver to be eligible to participate.
  • No purchases or race entries will be available at the gate. A tech card will be e-mailed to each pre-registered participant in advance of the event to complete in a safe manner. Please print legibly or type your information prior to signing. If you have not pre-purchased your participant package you will not be permitted to enter the venue. No exceptions.
  • Street Legal events will be limited to the total number of participants permitted by the Operating Orders for the Illinois Department of Commerce.
  • Racers will be required to turn in submitted tech card and show their Pit Pay QR code in exchange for racer wristband.
  • All attendees, staff and participants must adhere to CDC recommendations, practice proper social distancing standards and wear masks when outside of their pit areas.
  • Gates will open 30 minutes prior to the start of the test session.  Participants will proceed to staging and keep allotted distances between cars.
  • We will offer Extended Technical Inspection (ETI) and/or Racetrack Technical Inspection (RTI) prior to race dates to help expedite the tech process.
  • If you need an ETI or RTI, we will do our best to accommodate, time/staff permitting.
  • Driver and crewmembers must enter venue in same tow vehicle at same time. No additional support vehicles will be permitted inside the facility.  If you must drive separately, please park outside of the entry gates in the purple north parking lot and ride into the venue inside the race hauler.
  • Racers will be required to turn in submitted tech card in exchange for racer wristband. Crew members will need to have signed the individual release waiver in order to receive a restricted area pass.
  • We will only utilize odd-numbered staging lanes.  Even numbered lanes will be labeled as social distance zones.
  • We will show you where to park.  Pit areas will be arranged so that teams are utilizing the 22’ x 80’ spaces.  Please park on the left side of the space and pit out the right side of the trailer.  Trailers will serve as the physical barrier between teams. This will limit exposure to other teams.  We will only utilize every third pit space. Multi-car/family teams can pit in adjoining areas.
  • At no time can more than 10 people congregate in any one pit area/functional cell.
  • Crew members will be permitted to accompany their race vehicle to the start-line area with participant. Once a racer has completed their run their crew member will return to the staging lanes/pit area to stay with their designated racer.  Congregating on the start line, watching additional runs, etc. will not be permitted.
  • Crewmembers who leave their designated pit areas will be asked to wear PPE masks at all times.
  • For cars that require a tow cart, the cart must accompany the car to the line and immediately drive down the return road to tow the race vehicle back to pit area.
  • If we encounter a situation where more than two tow carts are parked at the starting line, all racing will halt until the carts leave to hook to their designated racer.
  • Your team members will be required to sign a COVID-19 screening form in advance of entering the event.  You will receive this form at the same time your tech card is e-mailed to you.
  • All grandstands and spectator areas will be closed.
  • Anyone congregating in pit areas in violation of the order will be asked to leave.
  • The City of Madison Police Department or private security will do a facility sweep at the designated time.
