British driver Jamie Chadwick completes INDY NXT testing at WWTR

June 21, 2023, St. Louis – British driver Jamie Chadwick was among the many INDY NXT racers testing today at World Wide Technology Raceway. Chadwick, 25, is a three-time champion in the W Series (2019, 2021, 2022), a single-seat, open-wheel platform for female racers. Chadwick’s racing career began in karting and over the years she also has competed in the BDRF British Formula 3 Championships, MRF Formula Challenge 2000, and the Formula 3 Asia Championships.

This season, Chadwick is driving for Andretti Autosport in INDY NXT (formerly Indy Lights). At present she is the only female competing in INDY NXT.

“Testing was not bad – only second time on an oval – just getting up to speed,” said Chadwick.

WWTR’s 1.25-mile oval and its two different sets of turns presented a challenge for the driver who hopes to compete in the Formula 1 ranks.

“It’s super challenging, those corners. I’m just getting up to speed, trying to learn traffic running, and quali running, stuff like that.

“We’re looking forward to the race in August. It should be good fun.”

The INDY NXT By Firestone Outfront 100 is set for 3 p.m. Central on Saturday, August 26, and will kick off the annual Bommarito Automotive Group 500 presented by Axalta and Valvoline Weekend at WWTR. The NTT INDYCAR SERIES race is slated for Sunday, August 27, at 2 p.m. CDT and will air live on NBC-TV.
