Last Updated on February 26, 2026 by WWTR

MADISON, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2025) – Sixteen drivers went head-to-head for the Jr. 500 2026 Ignite Series scholarship, provided by the Raceway Gives charity fund, on Sept. 14 at the Gateway Kartplex.

The 16 drivers were split into two groups of eight to compete in an eight-minute qualifying session. The eight fastest qualifiers advanced to the Jr. 500 Shootout.

After countless hours of preparation, practice and racing, Breon Austin came out on top and was crowned the 2025 Jr. 500 champion. Austin was followed by Riley Kirn and Charlie Moeser, who rounded out the podium.

To set the grid, participants competed in numerous qualifying sessions as well as a kart build held over the past month. From the opening qualifying round with a large group of participants to narrowing it down to the quickest 16, these young racers worked non-stop in pursuit of the 2026 Ignite Series scholarship, awarded by the Raceway Gives charity fund.

The program is open to youth ages 15 to 18 who are interested in gaining karting experience. The Jr. 500 program provides karting opportunities to local high school students and youth program participants.

Congratulations to our winner and to everyone who participated in the monthlong series!
